Board Certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

February 2, 2007

Fredericksburg, Virginia – The Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB) is pleased to announce that Dr. Scott A. Young, a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, has joined their staff. Dr. Young began employment with RACSB on January 2, 2007.

“We’re excited to have Dr. Young join the staff at RACSB. It’s a privilege for RACSB to have the only board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist between Richmond and Woodbridge. I know our consumers, especially our young patients, will benefit from his care,” said Executive Director Ron Branscome.

Dr. Young currently works at the RACSB Fredericksburg City clinic located at 600 Jackson Street. Starting in March 2007, Dr. Young will also maintain hours at RACSB’s Spotsylvania County and Stafford County clinics on a biweekly basis.

“I’m delighted to join RACSB,” shares Dr. Young. “I’ve always been impressed with the scope of services and the quality of clinical care RACSB provides. I look forward to the opportunity to treat as many children as possible.”

Dr. Young earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 1984. He graduated from the University of Florida’s Medical School in 1988. He completed his Psychiatry Internship, Psychiatry Residency, and Child/Adolescent Residency, all at the Medical College of Georgia.

The addition of Dr. Young will allow RACSB to increase the availability of psychiatric services at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Dr. Robert Niccolini will join Dr. Robert Strange to provide 14 hours of medication management services each week to inmates at the local jail.

Dr. Young and his family have lived in Spotsylvania County for more than seven years.
