Fredericksburg, Virginia - The Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB) announces the retirement of Linda Wilson, Coordinator of Intellectual Disability Support Coordination, following a distinguished career. Her last day is October 17, 2012.

Ms. Wilson has worked with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as mental health challenges for more than 30 years. She has worked at RACSB for a combined 25 years. Ms. Wilson began as a Case Manager at RACSB in 1981. She was later promoted to Case Management Supervisor for Intellectual Disability Services (known then as Mental Retardation Services) in 1988. Ms. Wilson then worked for Norfolk Community Services Board and Heritage Hall Health Care in King George County before returning to RACSB as the Case Management Coordinator in 1994. In that role, she supervised both intellectual disability and mental health case managers until early this year, when Ms. Wilson began to focus solely on Intellectual Disability Support Coordination.

RACSB Executive Director Ron Branscome stated “Linda is immensely knowledgeable regarding all facets of case management and the many requirements set forth by the state. She has been active in the lives of the individuals served by RACSB for a long time. Linda will sincerely be missed at RACSB.”

This past summer, Ms. Wilson was selected by Commissioner James Stewart to represent the Community Services Board Case Manager perspective on the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Department of Justice (DOJ) Settlement Agreement Stakeholder Group.

In recognition of Ms. Wilson’s service and contributions to individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health concerns, as well as their families in Planning District 16, RACSB will host a farewell celebration on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ronald W. Branscome Building, 600 Jackson Street, Fredericksburg. A formal presentation will take place at 1:00 p.m. Community members interested in attending are encouraged to bring photographs and written well-wishes to help fill a keepsake book for Ms. Wilson. Refreshments will be served.

Jennifer Acors has been promoted to fill the position vacated by Ms. Wilson. Mrs. Acors most recently worked as the Consumer Affairs Advocate/Utilization Review Specialist. Employed at RACSB since 1997, Mrs. Acors also held the positions of Intellectual Disability Case Manager and Utilization Review Specialist. She received a Bachelors of Science in Social Work from Radford University and resides in Spotsylvania County with her husband, Butch, and daughter.

Founded in 1970, the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB) provides public mental health, intellectual disability, substance abuse, and prevention/early intervention services to the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford. RACSB operates six outpatient clinics which provide individual, group and family therapy; specialized counseling and case management services; psychological assessment; 24-hour crisis intervention; and medication management services.
